This One Sustainable Accessory Will Elevate Your Spring Style
The last time I got really excited about wearing a watch was when I was about 12 and my parents bought me a Timex. You know, one of those super sporty ones with the velcro strap.
Now, as an #adult who seeks a mindful and slow fashion wardrobe, I’m super excited about a watch that came my way via Berg & Betts, a Canadian timepiece company that takes leather off-cuts from factories all over the world and creates beautiful watches from what would otherwise become textile waste.
More than slow fashion and sustainably-sourced fabrics, I’m a huge fan of anything that promotes a creative elimination of waste or a move towards a more circular supply chain. And speaking of supply chain, Berg & Betts uses Sedex, a global non-profit organization that drives improvement in responsible and ethical business practices in supply chains around the world, to carefully choose its overseas suppliers.
I’ve been a fan of my black square faced watch from their classic collection, which I’ve been wearing often since the fall, and was recently generously gifted an ivory and gold watch from their recent Mindful Collection.
I’ve been wearing it for a little while now, and despite being worried that the amount of watches in my jewelry drawer is looking decidedly “un-minimalist”, I’m happy that I have a pale watch to wear in the warmer months. Since my closet contains a lot of basics (a lot of which I try to coerce into seasons they don’t belong – merino sweater paired with short-shorts in the heat, anyone?), accessories are a great way for me to add character and seasonality to otherwise simple looks.
I never really appreciated the power of accessories (except for shoes, I’ve always appreciated their life and outfit-changing capabilities – watch this if you don’t believe me) until I started adding this beautiful Spring-inspired, ivory watch to my warm weather looks.
I hope you check out Berg & Betts if you’re looking for a way to perk up your closet without taking up valuable closet real-estate. Not only are the watches beautiful, but they’re making a positive impact on our planet by reducing textile waste, and being responsible about their sourcing and supply chain. That is definitely something I love to promote.
Thank you Berg & Betts for gifting me this beautiful watch in exchange for my honest opinion.
Thank you so much for reading, xo
