I debated posting about my little celebration the other day. In the giant ocean that is the Internet, 100K subscribers on a Youtube Channel is the tiniest of drops in the tiniest of buckets. But after reflecting, the reason I felt so compelled to celebrate 100K subscribers was to share my thanks with everyone who has ever liked, commented, shared, or watched any of my videos. I truly believe the channel and this community belongs as much to you as it does to me. In celebrating this 100K Youtube milestone, I’m celebrating you too!
I hope one day post-pandemic and present-me making more money, I will be able to physically share cake and flowers with this community, but in the meantime, here are some snaps of how I celebrated.
Custom Made Mini-Cake
I will jump on any excuse to eat cake, so I ordered a custom cake from a local baker (Kara Bauer, if you’re in the Ottawa area) and it turned out exactly how I wanted it. This is an exceptionally rare occurrence for me, as I’m incredibly particular when it comes to aesthetics, and Kara nailed it. The BEST part though, was the Nutella buttercream filling.

Sustainably Sourced Flowers
I LOVE purchasing flowers for myself and I think fresh flowers are such a special indulgence and luxury. However, after learning that they have a hefty carbon footprint (in all honesty, there is almost nothing on this planet that doesn’t carry a heavy CO2 impact), I stopped buying them for myself and only for others when the situation really called for it.
Enter sustainable or locally grown flowers! Through a friend in my book club (who has her own beautiful cutting garden), I discovered a few local florists who use their urban and suburban gardens to create beautiful sustainably sourced bouquets and arrangements! I chose City Love Flowers (my friend wasn’t available for the commission) who also has a program where you can purchase a small bouquet for a local senior who is confined to their home during COVID. I was so pleased with my little bouquet and thought it was the perfect accompaniment to my cake and mini-celebration.

Luckily the weather was great and we were able to enjoy everything outside in my parents’ backyard. While 100K subscribers is a great accomplishment, it’s just a number on a screen. What’s truly worth celebrating (in my opinion), is what’s behind it. Strong, positive, (and stylish!) people, a well of encouragement and love. It makes me so happy to know there are conscious humans looking to reduce their environmental footprint by finding creativity and gratitude in what they already have, and that we get to learn about this process together.
To me, that’s worth celebrating.
Thank you as always for reading!
