Have you ever wanted to change your style? Or are you one of those people that is a fashion and style chameleon – where one day you feel like channeling a cool minimalist London girl and the next a romantic and cheeky one?
I think a lot of us dress according to our mood, and brands do a GREAT job of merchandising and creating a certain mood or aesthetic – making us want to buy into it and shop for things we likely don’t need.
In this week’s video I’m sharing tips on how you can change the vibe or style of a look without shopping. I’m tackling two very different styles; classic minimalist and romantic with the same series of outfits. Some of the things I do to change the style of a look without shopping is:
- identify style elements of each style such as silhouette, proportions, textures, colour play, layering techniques, and other finishing touches
- swapping out key accessories like shoes, sunglasses and purses can easily change the style of a look without shopping.
- For example; swapping out a pair of flats for a heeled sandal to give a look a more romantic vibe. Or swapping out a more functional purse (like a cross body) for one that’s more fussy (like a clutch) instantly makes a look feel more delicate.

If you’re interested in minimal classic style, I break down the elements of this style and share a lookbook in this video. And if you’re more interested in the romantic style, I break down the style elements and share a lookbook in this video.
When you know the style elements of these different looks, it’s easier to make your old clothes feel new again, and fall back in love with your closet without shopping. You will soon know how to shop your closet like a pro. Below are some classic items that can easily go from minimal classic to romantic with just a bit of tweaking!
