As I type, some of my most delicate knitwear sits in my sink getting a little love. Laundry is one of those inevitable things that as adults, we have to do (ugh), but since discovering Eucalan and learning how to properly care for my clothing, laundry has turned into a more therapeutic process.

After my post about how I keep my clothes looking good all the time, I mentioned Eucalan as one of my prime necessities for handling clothing with care. Since I wash almost all of my garments as delicates – either in the machine or hand wash, Eucalan is a product I get a lot of use out of. For those of you wishing to reduce your environmental footprint (laundry is responsible for approximately 20% of our household water use), Eucalan is a great option because of its no-rinse properties, and there are no harmful chemicals that get washed down the drain – just essential oils and natural fibre conditioners. Not to mention your laundry room (or in my case, my bathroom) smells pretty amazing when garments are getting a soak.

I’m as low-maintenance (aka lazy) as they come, so the process for washing your clothes with Eucalan is simple.

– Fill up a tub or your sink (if you don’t have a proper laundry room like me) with tepid (not too hot, not too cold) water and add a small amount of Eucalan (I use the caps on the travel bottles).

– Gently squeeze and massage your garments and then let them sit! For at least 15 minutes. Which means I can make breakfast, start dinner or a blog post while they chill.

– Squeeze the water out but don’t twist or ring your garment! Then lay it flat to dry. You can use a drying rack or a towel, but I prefer a towel because you can roll the garment up in it to remove excess water. I also don’t have room for a drying rack.

And that’s it! You can also use Eucalan for lingerie, vintage clothing (this is key because those garments need to be handled with care!), silk and rayon, and even – your makeup brushes! I don’t know why, I’m not even a huge wearer of makeup, but this last one excited me. On top of it all, the bottle is recyclable so it is a great step towards no waste.

Voila! Now adulting smells nice, is friendlier to the environment, and there’s waaay less chance of laundry mishaps to your best clothing. Happy laundering friends!
